Patryk Vega--Fancy some "Cake"?

Patryk Vega (a member of KAN 2006 Jury) and Dominik Matwiejszczyk, who met during KAN, are now working together on a new film.

Joanna Liszowska, Marta Żmuda-Trzebiatowska, Tomasz Kot, Paweł Małaszyński, Danuta Stenka, Tomasz Karolak ( KAN 2007 Jury). Those are only the most well-known names from the cast of the upcoming Patryk Vega’s film, "Ciacho". It is Worth noting, the characters that they portray differ enormously from what you would expect from the lot.

It seems that after ten and hundreds of unoriginal, dull films that aimed only at making the audience laugh, we will finally get to see something new. The director decided to bring the old glitter to the word comedy. The film tells a story of two deadbeat brothers, who are planning to bust their sister out of jail. Vega bets on realism, on situational humor, and on a no-fooling-around policy. There are no computer generated images, and the actors have gone through a lot preparing for the shooting: there was a lot of exercise, new hair-dos, and even orthodontic correction. The assumption was that this will be a commercial movie that is to earn money. The American way. The director does not deny, that “Ciacho” might be the prologue to a trilogy. The work on the two follow-ups would start as soon as next year.

This is not Vega’s first feature film. His "Pitbull" has already won its laurels in Cieszyn and Koszalin, a special award during the XV Courmayeur Noir in Festival in Italy, and was nominated to "Fenomen Roku", which is awarded by Polish Magazine Przekrój. Vega is also known as a screenwriter of a number of TV series-- "Twarzą w twarz" and "Pierwszy milion".

On the screenplay to "Ciacho", however, Vega worked together with Dominikiem Matwiejczykiem. They have met during KAN 2006 Festival, when Matwiejczyk received Srebrna KANewka and KANewka Publiczności for "Bolączka Sobotniej Nocy" (“Saturday Night Furvor”), and when Vega presided in the Jury.

Patryk Vega works and creates 18 hours a day. Self-taught, inspired by foreign cinema, he takes after the best. Who know… maybe soon he too will be one of the best?

The cinema premiere is scheduled for January the 8th 2010, two days before XVIII Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, a charity-oriented festival, is launched. The artists support the festival, and will take part in the grand finale. A portion of “Ciacho’s” earnings will be given to the organizer, Jurek Owsiak’s foundation. They hope that ”Ciacho” will be one of the main donors.
