Clermont-Ferrand Festival is one of the most important short film events in Europe. For 30 years now it has been held in Otwernia, France. It is the equivalent of Cannes Festival, though both differ significantly: there are no red carpets, no vip-exclusive section in Clermont--the festival is more cameral and helps create a friendly atmosphere which encourages exchange of ideas and opinions. It is Clermont that you find new aquaintances, where new talents appear, and where the opportunities are limitless. It is to Clermont-Ferrand Festival that the Cracovian Appetite Production has been invited. The company consists of two: Aleksandra Świerk and Joanna Szymańska. They are the producers of Tomasz Jurkiewicz's half-an-hour film, "Wesołych Świąt" ("Happy Holidays"), which has been awarded Bronze KANewka for a feature film at KAN 2009. The young debutantes have also worked with Wilhelm Sasnal on his "Love Supreme", and have produced the "Huk--horror urządzeń kuchennych" ("Huk--the Kitchen Appliances Horror"). Appetite Production has produced video clips, commercials, etudes and social campaigns. Many film makers long for the honour of being invited to the Festival, and the two Cracovian producers feel very lucky. The Festival will be a great opportunity of finding an international partner or co-producer, or even a TV-station interested in their work. At the Polish Shorts prepared by Krakowska Fundacja Filmowa, Appetite Production will present their "Debut" for the production of which they are now seeking European partners. Jurkiewicz's "Wesołych Świąt" will also be screened.
Clermont-Ferrand Festival will take place from January 29 to February 6. |
